This editorial began with Alex Tews, a close friend and professional disc golf player based in my local community. His openness to being the first subject gave me the opportunity to develop and refine the process from the ground up.

Initial Collaboration

We began with a series of location shoots, capturing his routine on the course and exploring the visual tone that would define the project. This phase allowed me to test gear setups, scout lighting conditions and build a consistent visual language.

Story Development

To guide the interview, I developed a set of tailored questions and shared them in advance to give Alex time to reflect. This will help to ensure that our conversation would be candid, meaningful and rooted in his authentic experiences within disc sports.

Editorial Structure

The final step involved designing the layout and conducting a recorded interview focused on his origin story in disc golf. Our dialogue will shape one of the editorial’s opening spreads and serve as a model for future features, setting a strong foundation for tone, structure and narrative flow throughout the project.
